Annual ANTINORI Wine Dinner — November 06

November 13th is our annual Antinori wine dinner. Seating is limited so if your debating on joining us, think no more and call for your reservation.

Also, Decembers' open dates (for your holiday party) are becoming scarce. If you interested in having your party with us, we have a new set of selections that can be tailored to your event and guests.

The future looks just as bright as the past! — October 17

For the next few weeks in the blog I'm going to highlight some different aspects (people, places, events etc.) of the restaurant and catering. Sometimes it is fun to look into our past to see how to approach our future. And sometimes these anecdotes are just too good to be forgotten. Hope you enjoy!

As you sit at the bar and look around, have drink, and talk to Richard (our bartender for 33years) you'll soon find out why you are important to us. It's the stories, food and drink that we share among friends (possibly someone from out of town). It's the brass plaques adorning the paneled walls and caricatures on the bulkhead. Eventually the time will come when Richard will tease you, and it will happen. Trust me. Then you will have secured your spot in this history.

This month on October 27th, don't forget the Conte Capponi Dinner. Featuring the Count and a Tuscan menu. This is a private dinner with limited seating. Call for your reservation to this intimate evening.

Looking ahead toward the holidays we just want to remind you that our dates at the restaurant fill up fast and some are already unavailable. If your looking to hold your event at one of our outside venues such as Heinz Hall, The History Center, The Children's Museum or another Uncommon Place please call our catering line at 412.281.5140. Martin, Linda and Maggie are there to oversee every detail of your upcoming event. Also, the Speaker Series at Heinz Hall has been sold out for the past performances;so, if you would like to dine in the Mozart make your reservation early.

PIctures, videos, and other goodies to follow. But for now you need to follow the tweets and maybe there's something in it for you.

Till next time, Thom Naylor

Welcome to The Common Plea Blog — September 11

For our first blog I thought we should keep it simple and give you as much information as possible.

Here at the restaurant we are gearing up for the Holidays (I know its early), but secure your event date — many are booked already.

Also, October is going to be a lot of fun here. We have a Scotch Tasting Dinner on October 17th with Master of Whisky Michael Parducci. Seating will be limited to 30 guests!

Count Caponi will be returning for a private dinner and conversation at the end of the month. Which we are sure will prove to be an evening once again filled with Florentine facts and lore.

And there's our annual Italian Dinner (around Columbus Day), with Banfi Winery! Look for a menu and date soon.

At Heinz Hall, Martin and his staff are ready for a new season. The Mozart Room is open for dinner and brunch during scheduled events and programs. Make your reservation to compliment your performance. Also don't forget the Hall and Mozart Room can be booked for your private events as well.

Hats off to our Catering division as they continue to make an outstanding impression at all of our events and venues. This week The Common Plea Catering put another "feather in its cap" with the NFL KICK OFF PARTY at Point State Park. Talk about an event! ALL STAR then this... whats next?

Thanks Catering for making the Common Plea a place we can all be proud to be a part of!
